SUMMARY:Details of Melvyn Demmen's Funeral
DESCRIPTION:Melvyn Demmen’s funeral will be held at St. George’s on Wednesday 26th September at 12.30pm followed by a committal at Beckenham Crematorium. \nOur friend\, and St George’s SPA member\, died this week after a long battle with ill health. He will be missed by all and touched many lives in the congregation and in Shirley. \n \nMelvyn was a SPA (Southwark Pastoral Auxillary) and before ill-health set in was active in the chaplaincy team at Croydon University Hospital. He was a valued member of St George’s Ministry team. (From Ray Wheeler) \nAs announced in church last Sunday\, Melvyn Demmen died late last Saturday evening at St. George’s Hospital\, Tooting. Melvyn was a Pastoral Auxiliary with Southwark Diocese (SPA) and was a valued member of the staff team here at St. George’s but ill health over recent years had restricted the scope of his work. His sister Marilyn\, brother Colin\, and close friend Sue had been with him since the early evening and I was able to say some prayers with him but it was clear he was extremely unwell. His condition continued to deteriorate and he died peacefully just before 9.30pm. Melvyn had the foresight to make arrangements for his funeral which will be held at St. George’s. Let us thank God for his life and for his work among us. May he now rest in peace. Barry. \n  \n
